My Love Hate Relationship with the Gym
I have always had a love/hate relationship with the gym. I enjoy going and getting my workout done but it was always a struggle to get there with the extra drive time, sharing equipment with other people, socializing with others. I am very serious when I workout. I like to get in, workout, and get out. To me working out is serious business and any distractions are difficult for me to stay focused on why I am there.
Once we moved into a bigger apartment my husband solved this problem for me and bought me an elliptical machine and free weights. I added an exercise ball, jump rope, bodylastics, pull up bar, and a rower to this list. I don't have all the equipment I want but I am able to to complete most exercises I need with some modifications and thinking outside the box.
Now I can workout whenever I want. The equipment is literally staring me in the face everyday so I do tend to feel guilty after a while of not using it. I can watch shows, wear what I want, and not put on any makeup/do my hair.
If you have a hard time getting motivated to physically go to the gym or you feel self-conscious at the gym I would recommend slowly building up a home gym. Look at yard sales, craigslist, letgo to find exercise equipment and slowly build up what you have. You don't need the most top of the line equipment just equipment that will get you moving.
