Healthy Recipe Fails
I have been wanting a lot of candy and chewy snacks the past few weeks so I thought I would try to some healthier options that I found on pinterest. These didn't work out to so well. I tried making chocolate covered caramels and cherry lime gummies. I of course couldn't find all of the exact ingredients at my local grocery store and made some substitutions that should have been okay. I substituted honey for agave with the caramels and I substituted regular gelatin for collagen gelatin for the gummies.
I tried making the gummies first as it was a really quick recipe. They ended up coming out more of a jello consistency and I HATE jello. Sunday I had some time and decided to try making the caramels. Everything looked like it was going well but the caramels would not harden (very gooey) and had a very strong honey flavor.
I am wondering if I had the agave if the caramels would have at least tasted more like caramel. I use pinterest a lot of trying new recipes and they usually turn out well. I guess I will be on the lookout for some "healthier" junk food options that maybe I can buy instead of make :).
Does anyone know of any good brands/recipes?
