Recipes & Mealplans

Where do I get recipes and how do I meal plan? I have to be honest...for me right now meal planning is very easy because it's just for me. My husband makes his own meals throughout the week and then we may cook something special or eat out one night a week. I don't have any kids to worry about cooking for at this time either but that will soon change.

I have some tried and true recipes from pinterest as well as cookbooks (The South Beach Diet Taste of Summer by Arthur Agatston, MD and Eat clean by Tosca Reno). I like recipes that are easy (minimal ingredients and directions). I used to have a really great 4 ingredients or less cookbook but i lost it :/.

For meal plans I have no problem with eating the same breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for 6-7 days. After 6-7 days I have to switch it up. I definitely eat a lot of breakfast protein shakes, greek yogurt with fruit, and luna bars. I try to eat as few packaged items as possible but I do have a weakness for donuts.

Here is a sample meal plan for me:

Breakfast: protein shake (Vega all essentials shake in chocolate, with 8 oz. organic skim milk, 1/4 cup of frozen unsweetened blueberries, 1/4 cup of spinach, and 1 tbsp. of all natural peanut butter).

Snack: 1 cup of organic valley plain greek yogurt and 1/2 cup of strawberries

Lunch: 1/2 cup of basmati rice, 1 cup of green beans, 3-4 oz of organic chicken prepared in crockpot with buffalo sauce

Snack: 1/2 a cucumber and 2 tbsp. of original hummus

Dinner: 3 oz. of organic steak, 1 cup of asparagus, 1/2 cup of whole wheat pasta with 1 tbsp. of organic butter and some salt.

How do others meal plan and decide on what to eat each week?
